What does a Mummy want for Christmas?

At this time of year, it seems to be mostly about the kids… making their lists, helping them experience the Christmas magic, buying those all important presents, trying to make sure ‘the big day’ itself delivers the Christmas promise… but what about Mummy?

I know one of the most important things for me at Christmas is making sure that the kids have fun and have another Christmas to remember. But I do have a little list too (not that I send it to Santa)… I just quietly hope that my very own Santa picks up on the hints I leave… or uses his imagination!

This year, though, I have found somewhere to make it a little easier for my Santa – a new website called myhigh.st which has created a fantastic online shopping hub that brings together a huge number independent retailers, giving the shopper the convenience of shopping online, with lots of things in one place, but at the same time giving the feel good factor of knowing that you are supporting small, independent businesses. The range and quality looks really impressive and they have loads of lovely foodie, craft and interiors stuff too – so plenty for Santa to choose from!

Just in case though, I have created my own mini wish-list… and here it is!

1. A LOVELY bracelet

If you know me, you’ll know I don’t go anywhere without a bracelet… and this one is PERFECT for me because of the style and the colours. Made by a small company called Watch This Space, this bracelet is made up of mulberry and sliver colours and is really reasonably priced at just £17!

2. A BEAUTIFUL scarf

It may be pink(ish) yet again – but that is my favourite colour! I wear scarves a lot, and love all the different styles and colours that are available, as well as all the different textures created by the different materials. This Daisy scarf in Wine is made from a soft shiny fabric embossed with a repeating daisy design at each end… and I just love it! It would go so nicely with my favourite outfit, and again at just £15 it is a really good price!

3. A PRACTICAL mixing bowl

Regular readers of my blog will know that I love to be creative in the kitchen, but recently my favourite mixing bowl smashed! I was gutted! This Deluxe Stainless Steel mixing bowl, however, would be the perfect replacement – as I wouldn’t be able to drop it and smash it! From the Moorlands Cookshop and priced at just £6.99 it would be a great addition to my kitchen cupboard – and would get plenty of use!

4. A hamper of DELICIOUS food!

What I love about this Myhigh.st is the LOCAL choice that is available Nationwide – I don’t have to search out the small independent retailers in different towns and villages, because they are all there in one place. And there is no better example than this DELICIOUS looking hamper…

Hamper

The Mendip Hamper, by Queen Street delicatessen of Wells contains all sorts of local food from cheese to crackers and truffles to cider brandy… and they would all go down well with a Mummy on the coming cold winter nights! I suppose I would share too…

5. A RUSTIC candle holder

candle

As well as settling down to some delicious treats on a cold winter’s night, I love to be surrounded by candlelight… and this candle holder would be the perfect addition to my home (or even 2 or 3 if Santa was generous!) From the Trowbridge Gallery of Castle Cary, this Wooden Block candle holder is beautiful, simple and stylish yet still a little rustic! Priced at £18 it is again really well priced…

So Santa… I have given you a few ideas but there are plenty more waiting to be found and it couldn’t be easier for you with all these wonderful products from small independent retailers in one place online! So have a beer, crack open the maltesers… and get shopping (please!)
